Buono tells national women leaders she craves showdown with Christie

Moments ago at a restaurant in uptown Charlotte, state Sen. Barbara Buono (D-18) told a group of national women leaders that she wants to take on Governor Chris Christie in 2013.

The senator received applause from a group that also heard from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

The Political Parity Unconventional Women  event, titled, “When women run, women win,” took place at the Kanvas Art Gallery.

Buono Chief of Staff Christina Zuk explained that Buono’s remarks did not constitute an announcement, but a statement of desire.

"He’s obviously working very, very hard at it. I mean he’s traveling all over the country as chairman of the [Republican Governors Association] and I think at this point he has as good a chance or better than anybody else. His name is household word all across the country, and I think he would make a great president."
