Christie assessing damage

EWING – Gov. Chris Christie took off from Trenton about an hour ago to conduct an aerial survey of the damage from Hurricane Sandy.

The governor is expected to land in Belmar and Avalon along the way as he tours the state.

Christie is expected to hold an afternoon news briefing from the New Jersey State Police command center’s Regional Operations and Intelligence Center in Ewing.

"He’s obviously working very, very hard at it. I mean he’s traveling all over the country as chairman of the [Republican Governors Association] and I think at this point he has as good a chance or better than anybody else. His name is household word all across the country, and I think he would make a great president."
