Power restoration at a glance

Gov. Chris Christie reported yesterday that 2.6 million utility customers were without power as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

The number represented a full 1 million more customers than lost power during Irene.

Here’s a quick look today at where things are at with PSE&G and JCP&L:

- Both companies are working to restore power to about 1.85 million customers.

- JCP&L restored power to roughly 150,000 customers. About 950,000 are still without power.

- PSE&G restored power to about 30 percent of the 1.5 million people that were knocked off the grid. Currently, they’re working to restore power to about 900,000 customers.

"He’s obviously working very, very hard at it. I mean he’s traveling all over the country as chairman of the [Republican Governors Association] and I think at this point he has as good a chance or better than anybody else. His name is household word all across the country, and I think he would make a great president."
