Assembly leaders to tour Ocean County

TRENTON – Assembly leaders from both sides of the aisle plan to join together Thursday and tour parts of Ocean County that were severely impacted by Superstorm Sandy.

The bipartisan entourage is expected to include Democratic lawmakers Speaker Sheila Oliver, Assemblyman Louis Greenwald and Republican Minority Leader Jon Bramnick and Assemblyman Dave Rible, according to Assembly officials. The lawmakers anticipate stops at Seaside Heights, Ortley, Normandy Beach, Brick and Mantoloking.

Along the way, Assembly leaders are also expected to meet with local elected officials.

“Now that the immediate emergency response is more settled, it’s important for Assembly members to directly meet with residents and business owners impacted by the storm and to witness the challenges we will face together as we prepare a legislative response,” Oliver said in a statement.

“Assembly members have been devoted to working tirelessly on constituent needs since the storm, but as we move toward rebuilding and recovery, it also will be crucial to know exactly what the state and our residents and businesses are facing,” she said.
