Chivukula is working with the American Red Cross to collect donations for the Hurricane Sandy relief effort and will open his Assembly distict office as a drop-off location. Starting Tuesday, November 13, residents in the surrounding area can drop-off items to the Office of Assemblyman Chivukula located at 888 Easton Avenue in Somerset, NJ, during normal business hours. “Hurricane Sandy was a storm of unprecedented proportions which has had a devastating impact on New Jersey with more than two million losing power and thousands being displaced from their homes and losing their property and personal possessions,” Chivukula (D-SomersetMiddlesex) said. “By working with the American Red Cross, we hope to provide relief to constituents who were severely affected by Hurricane Sandy by supplying them with necessary items like food, clothing, batteries and blankets. I urge residents to help a neighbor by making a donation,” he added. The Assemblyman’s district office will be collecting items such as non-perishable food, water, batteries, blankets, and new clothing only. These will be delivered to local American Red Cross warehouses from where they will be distributed to residents affected by the storm. "Since the print publication of this list, Christie, in his capacity as chairman of the Republican Governors Association, helped decisively turn the midterm elections in the Republicans' favor, which makes him a bit more influential than we initially gave him credit for, post-Bridgegate. So when your state governments do absolutely nothing for you for the next four years, be sure to thank him!"
