Healy strikes back at Connors

Jersey City Mayor Jerry Healy today responded to criticism from Assemblyman Sean Connors over his handling of Hurricane Sandy. Connors earlier today withdrew support for Healy in Healy’s re-election bid citing the mayor’s absence iin the wake of the storm.

“Working around-the-clock throughout Super storm Sandy and its aftermath, every waking moment my focus has been about protecting Jersey City’s residents and helping families and businesses get back on their feet,” Healy said. “Sean Connors knows that’s the truth, because he was there throughout much of the process. Not once did Sean Connors bring up any critique of our response – privately or publicly – until today’s orchestrated political press release. Frankly, it smacks of sheer opportunism to take this tragic situation that had such a profound impact on so many lives and to use it for personal, political gain.”

Healy is facing downtown Jersey City Councilman Steve Fulop in his bid.
