Kyrillos’s campaign manager encourages supporters to stick around, saying it’s still early

BELLEVILLE – While some of the major news networks have already called the race for Sen. Bob Menendez, Chapin Fay, campaign manager for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Joe Kyrillos, encouraged the noticably less enthused crowd at the election night party to stick around and enjoy the music, saying that only 10 percent of the votes had come in.

“We’re still very early in the night,” he said. He said while Kyrillos lost in Essex and Camden counties, and there was a slippage in Gloucester County, Fay pointed out he was up in Hunterdon and Cape May counties.

No results have come in from Ocean or Bergen counties, but Fay said he will provide an update within a half hour.

The downcast crowd at Nanina’s in the Park cheered a little when Fox News declared that Republicans will retain majority control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

"This meeting is entirely off the record. Until somebody leaks it."
