Mosquera wins in 4th

Democratic Assemblywoman Gabriela Mosquera has retained her 4th District seat.

Mosquera won the seat by a margin of 23 points.

Mosquera won election to the Assembly in the open 4th District last November, but her victory was challenged by Republican Shirley Lovett on the grounds that Mosquera had not lived in the district for one year prior to the election.  The challenge was successful, but the judge ruled that Democrats could choose the seat’s holder until a special election could be held and they chose Mosquera.

"He’s obviously working very, very hard at it. I mean he’s traveling all over the country as chairman of the [Republican Governors Association] and I think at this point he has as good a chance or better than anybody else. His name is household word all across the country, and I think he would make a great president."
