Washington, D.C. – Congressman Jon Runyan (R-NJ), issued the following statement regarding the Acting Secretary of the Commerce Department, Rebecca Blank, issuing a declaration that New Jersey Fisheries will be given federal disaster assistance. “I want to thank Gov. Christie, Acting Secretary Blank, and members of the New Jersey delegation for all the work they have done to ensure our state’s fishermen will be given the assistance they need to move forward with recovery. The fishing industry employs 40,000 individuals and brings in billions of dollars of revenue into New Jersey. This assistance will go a long way toward recovery of the industry and the towns and residents that rely upon them. There is still a great deal of work to do and I remain committed to doing everything in my power to ensure the swift recovery for all of New Jersey.”
"The governor still has to come to bat."
