Sacco staying lowkey on JC mayor’s race

TRENTON – North Hudson Mayor/state Senator Nick Sacco (D-32) isn’t yet ready to dive into the Healy versus Fulop fray in the lead-up to next year’s Jersey City mayor’s race.

At least that’s his public position.

“Do they really care what someone whose district no longer includes Jersey City has to say about the Jersey City mayor’s race?” said Sacco as he gaveled to a close his Senate Transportation Committee hearing.

Political observers regard Sacco as the face of North Hudson County Democratic Organization power.

But he insisted he’s not ready to endorse.

"He’s obviously working very, very hard at it. I mean he’s traveling all over the country as chairman of the [Republican Governors Association] and I think at this point he has as good a chance or better than anybody else. His name is household word all across the country, and I think he would make a great president."
