Former HCDO Chair Kenny on Fulop’s team

Former state Senate Majority Leader Bernard Kenny of Hoboken is in the legal corner of Jersey City mayoral candidate Steve Fulop.

“It’s the firm,” said Kenny, a principal at Florio and Kenny.

That’s significant because Kenny was chairman of the Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO), the chief political backer of JC Mayor Jerry Healy.

Kenny served as HCDO chairman prior to Healy.

The firm bears other ties to Hudson organizational politics.

A counsel at Florio and Kenny, Christopher Patella serves as legal advisor to sitting HCDO Chairman Mark Smith, the mayor of Bayonne.

"He’s obviously working very, very hard at it. I mean he’s traveling all over the country as chairman of the [Republican Governors Association] and I think at this point he has as good a chance or better than anybody else. His name is household word all across the country, and I think he would make a great president."
