BCRO players lining up to go after wounded Schroeder’s LD 39 Assembly seat

The Bergen County Republican Organization this Saturday will sit down and hammer out a schedule for its upcoming annual NERO (Northeast Republican Organization) conference.

Once they determine a date, the organization’s main order of business pre-April 1 deadline will be to find a suitable LD 39 replacement  for Assemblyman Robert Schroeder (R-39), who’s jammed up on charges of check-kiting.

Every significant party leader, including Assembly Minority Leader Jon Bramnick, BCRO Chairman Bob Yudin, state Sen. Gerry Cardinale (R-39), and Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi (R-39) – wants Schroeder gone.

Since the GOP assemblyman’s summertime woes, a list has emerged of prospective Assembly swap-ins: Robert Auth, chairman of the Old Tappan Municipal Committee; Old Tappan Mayor Victor Polce; Westwood Councilwoman Cindy Wanack; and Saddle River Councilwoman Karen Mastriano.

Former Bergen County Freeholder Rob Hermansen is also said to be trying to ferret out support for a run, but that is unconfirmed.

BCRO Chairman Yudin said he has not heard from Schroeder regarding the embattled assemblyman’s future political plans.

"New Jersey hasn’t heard the last of Brian Goldberg. Or maybe New Jersey will be hearing about him for the first time."
