EDA in 2012: $591M in project financing

TRENTON – Preliminary estimates show that in 2012, the Economic Development Authority provided $591 million in financing to 222 projects statewide, CEO Michelle Brown said Tuesday.

The financing helped support some 27,000 existing jobs and helped create 4,600 new ones, she said.

Some $319 million of the financing was done through traditional programs while another $272 million was provided through “incentive programs.”

Between both types of financing, EDA helped leverage some $1.258 billion in public/private investment and created 3,000 construction jobs, according to EDA estimates.

"Since the print publication of this list, Christie, in his capacity as chairman of the Republican Governors Association, helped decisively turn the midterm elections in the Republicans' favor, which makes him a bit more influential than we initially gave him credit for, post-Bridgegate. So when your state governments do absolutely nothing for you for the next four years, be sure to thank him!"
