Former Assemblyman Talarico says he is mulling LD 38 Senate run against Gordon

Former Bergen Assemblyman Guy Talarico of Oradell said he has not yet made a decision regarding a GOP run for the state Senate in the 38th District.

“There’s no question that is something that has been brought to my attention,” said the former assemblyman, out of the Legislature for ten years, who would be challenging incumbent state Sen. Bob Gordon (D-38).

“I have the utmost respect for Gov. Chris Christie,” Talarico said of the governor, up for re-election this year. “Certainly he is one of the leading bright lights not just in New Jersey but in the country.

“Helping him win re-election is something I definitely want to do,” added Talarico, a former Bergen County GOP chairman. “At this point I’m trying to figure out the best combination. I have not ruled out running. I’m still assessing it. It’s one of those situations where this is my passion, but it’s not an easy decision.”

Talarico is the CEO of Alaric Compliance Services LLC, a New York-based regulatory compliance consulting firm.

Other possible GOP candidates for the Senate seat include former Bergen Freeholder John Driscoll and former Assembly candidate Fernando Alonso.
