Healy backs Buono for governor

Embroiled in the Jersey City mayoral race, incumbent Mayor Jerry Healy today formally backed Democratic gubernatorial candidate state Sen. Barbara Buono (D-18), Metuchen.

“Senator Buono has proven herself time and again to be my kind of Democrat, someone who stands and fights for middle class taxpayers and Democratic principles, no matter how tough the fight,” Healy said. “She is at the forefront in the battle to curb gun violence and has been an outspoken critic of those who would stand in the way of legislation to increase gun control.  I proudly endorse her today in her campaign to become governor and look forward to her winning in November and getting New Jersey back on the right track.”

"He’s obviously working very, very hard at it. I mean he’s traveling all over the country as chairman of the [Republican Governors Association] and I think at this point he has as good a chance or better than anybody else. His name is household word all across the country, and I think he would make a great president."
