In Jersey City, Fulop has $830K COH

Ward E Councilman Steven Fulop has so far raised more than $1.2 million in his campaign for mayor of Jersey City, and has more than $830,000 cash on hand compared to incumbent Mayor Jerrry Healy’s $350,000 COH.

In the quarter that ended Dec. 31, 2012, Fulop raised nearly $225,000, the Fulop campaign said. Of the nearly 284 donors who contributed to the campaign during the period, almost half contributed $200 or less.

“The small donations we receive from throughout Jersey City make up the financial backbone of this campaign,” Fulop said. “Our fundraising reflects the widespread, grassroots support we have for our campaign.”

"He’s obviously working very, very hard at it. I mean he’s traveling all over the country as chairman of the [Republican Governors Association] and I think at this point he has as good a chance or better than anybody else. His name is household word all across the country, and I think he would make a great president."
