Mayer departing N.J. GOP

The communications director for the New Jersey Republican Party, Doug Mayer, is preparing to leave his post at the state GOP.

When contacted Monday Mayer confirmed his planned departure after working at the state committee for about a year. The spokesman will be joining the communications staff of South Carolina Republican Gov. Nikki Haley.

Mayer told PolitickerNJ he was grateful for the opportunity to work with the state GOP and is looking forward to taking up his new position in the Palmetto State.

"Since the print publication of this list, Christie, in his capacity as chairman of the Republican Governors Association, helped decisively turn the midterm elections in the Republicans' favor, which makes him a bit more influential than we initially gave him credit for, post-Bridgegate. So when your state governments do absolutely nothing for you for the next four years, be sure to thank him!"
