Quijano: Sandy Victims Deserve Better than Shenanigans of House Republicans

(UNION) – Assemblywoman Annette Quijano (D-Union) released the following statement on Wednesday on the failure of the House of Representatives to vote on a Sandy relief package that would provide needed funds to aid recovery efforts in storm-ravaged communities in New Jersey:

“This is a slap in the face to the thousands of residents who have been in survival mode since the storm hit. They deserve better than the disregard displayed by Speaker Boehner and the House Republican leaders, who have essentially denied residents devastated by Sandy the financial resources needed to fully recover. How much longer are these residents, these communities expected to wait before their representatives are ready and willing to extend a helping hand? Whatever dysfunction within the Republican Party is to blame for this terrible decision, I hope it is resolved quickly. The recovery of our state from the damage inflicted by this storm depends on it.”
