RUMANA: GOVERNOR AGAIN REAFFIRMS HIS COMMITMENT TO POST-STORM REBUILDING, PROTECTING TAXPAYERS Assembly Republican Whip Scott Rumana, R-Passaic, Bergen, Essex and Morris, issued the statement below today following Governor Christie’s State of the State address to a Joint Session of the Legislature: “In the days following the most catastrophic natural disaster to hit New Jersey, Governor Christie assured stunned residents that he will do everything in his power to help rebuild our state. “As a representative of a district that suffers with chronic flooding, I speak from experience in acknowledging the dedication Governor Christie has to our state’s citizens. Today, he continued to make good on that promise by pledging to continue the difficult task of rebuilding that will go a long way in helping residents and businesses move forward. “As a result of the Governor’s strong leadership and commitment to fiscal responsibility and government reform the past three years, New Jersey’s economy is poised to weather this storm. While post-storm restoration will be at the forefront of this year’s agenda, Governor Christie has made it clear multi-tasking is another one of his strengths as he remains committed to protecting taxpayers by eliminating payouts to public employees for unused sick time and protecting the property tax cap which has resulted in the lowest average increase in property taxes since 1991. “I hope our Democrat colleagues will put political posturing aside and join us in our commitment to keep New Jersey moving in the right direction.” #### On the Net: http://www.NJAssemblyRepublicans.com NJ Assembly Republicans on Facebook NJ Assembly Republicans on Twitter
"He’s obviously working very, very hard at it. I mean he’s traveling all over the country as chairman of the [Republican Governors Association] and I think at this point he has as good a chance or better than anybody else. His name is household word all across the country, and I think he would make a great president."
