Sources: Pascrell not running for governor

U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-9) will not run for governor, sources close to the congressman tell PolitickerNJ.com.

Pascrell over the weekend signaled to political allies his continuing desire to remain focused on his job in Washington, D.C. and killed the guv talk, sources said.

A resounding victor in a Democratic Primary last year, the congressman was a go-to option for northern county chairmen worried about the impact of Gov. Chris Christie on down ballot exchanges.

They – and others in the Democratic Party – vigorously courted the veteran congressman, a former Paterson mayor, who throughout said he preferred to stay engaged in his congressional duties.

"The possible 2017 contender for the governorship shouldered Thanksgiving birds alongside Stack, who took the insanity of his annual turkey drive to another level this year, launching a 20,000-bird door-to-door offensive."
