Sources: Walker poised to launch JC mayoral campaign

Ex-Seton Hall basketball star Jerry Walker is telling people he’s ready to run for mayor of Jersey City, sources tell PolitickerNJ.com.

To this point it’s been a brutal two-man race between incumbent Jerry Healy and challenger Downtown City Councilman Steve Fulop.

Walker wants to change that and offer himself as an alternative, sources say.

For her part, while she doesn’t rule it out right now, state Sen. Sandra Cunningham (D-31), Jersey City, appears focused on her Senate seat and not a 2013 mayoral campaign, sources say.

Walker starred for St. Anthony’s while in high school and later played at Seton Hall.  After graduating, he played briefly for the New Jersey Nets.
