Alexander heads to D.C. for fundraising events

34th District candidate Mark Alexander will be in Washington, D.C., this week raising money for his challenge of state Sen. Nia Gill (D-34).

The former Obama senior advisor has events scheduled with U.S. Sen. Chris Coons, (D-DE), a law school classmate, and Greg Craig,  former White House counsel to President Obama, with whom Alexander worked to develop Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign platform.

Supporters of Alexander’s campaign include comedian Bill Cosby, Obama appointee Tom Healy, former Press Secretary to First Lady Hilary Clinton Lisa Caputo, Congressman Joseph Kennedy III, Sila Calderon, the only female governor of Puerto Rico, former N.J. Attorney General Peter Harvey,  and Sharon Pratt Kelly, the first female mayor of Washington, D.C.

The candidate has raised nearly $150,000 to date.

"He’s obviously working very, very hard at it. I mean he’s traveling all over the country as chairman of the [Republican Governors Association] and I think at this point he has as good a chance or better than anybody else. His name is household word all across the country, and I think he would make a great president."
