MONTVILLE – Gov. Chris Christie confirmed Wednesday he never received an invitation to attend next month’s Conservative Political Action Conference.
The governor said the apparent snub by CPAC members who decided not to invite the Republican governor doesn’t bother him much, telling a resident who inquired whether he was invited that he’s not losing any sleep over it.
“It doesn’t bother me a whole heck of a lot,” Christie said.
“I can’t sweat the small stuff,” he said. “I have a state to rebuild.”
Christie told residents he receives hundreds of invitations each week to speak at different events across the country.
“I don’t keep track, I don’t see them usually,” he said. “I didn’t even know that I hadn’t been invited to CPAC until two days ago when I saw it in the news.”
Christie said he wished CPAC members well and didn’t hold any resentment over not being invited to the annual conference.
“It’s not like I’m lacking for invitations to speak,” he said. “It’s their organization. It’s their business.”
