UNION BEACH – Gov. Chris Christie said Tuesday he does not know yet if he will attend the Second Amendment Rally on Friday at the Statehouse.
“I haven’t made any decision,” he said, adding he hasn’t seen his schedule yet. He said his Friday schedule is usually made by Wednesday night.
“I don’t know. They give it to me one day at a time,” he said. “So we’ll see if I’m going to be there or not. So I don’t know. I haven’t made a decision about Friday yet.”
The president of the N.J. Second Amendment Society had said in January that Christie would attend.
Society President Frank Fiamingo said he had talked to someone in the governor’s office who said that barring last-minute conflicts, Christie would attend.
Fiamingo said that prior to that, he had personally spoken to Christie and that he had expressed a desire to attend.
But after that account appeared, the governor’s office vehemently denied that Christie had made any commitment to attend.
The rally is one of several being held nationally that day.
