Greenstein hires Hooker

State Sen. Linda Greenstein has hired former NJN anchor Jim Hooker as her new chief of staff.

Hooker starts on March 1.

“I’m really excited about it and I look forward to his involvement,” Greenstein said. “As I began to tell people about it, they are all excited as well.  It’ll be interesting to get his perspective on things.”

Hooker was laid off from NJN when the state-funded television station ceased operations in 2011.  Since that time Hooker has had stints at CBS and other news outlets including PolitickerNJ, where he worked as a freelance reporter.

Greenstein’s former Chief of Staff, Carole Murphy, left her office to work for Assemblywoman Gabriela Mosquera. She was replaced by Barbara Plumeri who was with the office for a short time.

Greenstein could be facing a tough challenge for her 14th District seat as former Republican state Sen. Peter Inverso said last week he was considering mounting a comeback.

"This meeting is entirely off the record. Until somebody leaks it."
