Middlesex and Somerset Counties AFL-CIO Central Labor Council backs Buono for governor

The Middlesex and Somerset Counties AFL-CIO Central Labor Council today endorsed state Sen. Barbara Buono (D-18) for governor.

President Tom Tighe said Buono is the only candidate who will stand up for social and economic justice in the workplace.

“For three years, Governor Christie has done nothing to reduce the highest property taxes in the country and led New Jersey to the 4th highest employment. Instead, his trickle-down economics look out for millionaires at the expense of the middle class,” Tighe said. “As I have known Senator Buono for a decade, I can confidently say that Senator Buono is the only gubernatorial candidate who will fight for New Jersey workers and their families. Senator Buono has championed fair tax rates and affordable higher education. She has worked hard to create and keep good paying jobs in our state. And she understands the struggle the middle class faces because she has lived it.”

“I have worked with Tom for years on issues that are critical to our state and our labor unions. It is important to me that the hard-working families of the AFL-CIO always have a seat at the table. Without them, our state would be missing a critical part of our identity. As governor, I will always remember and fight for the working class,” said Buono.
