A national Democratic political action committee that supports pro-choice female candidates issued a statement Monday putting New Jersey’s Republican governor “on notice.”
EMILY’s List blasted Christie for being a “GOP extremist” and said the governor’s “appalling anti-women [and] anti-family records” helped put him on notice. The organization, which boasts raising $52 million in the 2011-2012 election cycle, said they intend to let voters know about Christie’s record as the incumbent governor enters into an election year.
“Chris Christie’s record is right wing and indefensible,” said Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILY’s List, in a statement.
“He’s anti-choice, anti-equal pay and doles out billions of dollars in tax breaks to corporations while hammering working families with massive cuts to education and health care,” she said. “Christie is a GOP extremist plain and simple, and New Jersey families need to know he’s not on their side. With the help of the EMILY’s List community – now two million members strong – voters are going to get to know the real Chris Christie: wrong on the issues and wrong for New Jersey.”
The other criteria for Christie making the organization’s list is because there’s a “major Democratic female talent waiting in the wings,” according to the PAC.
