(TRENTON) – Senator Donald Norcross (D-Camden/Gloucester), Chair of the Senate Law and Public Safety Committee, has released the following statement in response to the Governor’s budget address this afternoon. “New Jersey is recovering from one of the worst disasters in our history, but it is vital that we not lose sight of the very real issues that we faced before Hurricane Sandy. I have advocated for meaningful legislation that will create jobs, encourage economic growth, and reduce the burden on our taxpayers, and I will continue to work in a bipartisan effort to help improve New Jersey’s economy. “Today, the Governor advocated for my initiative to keep New Jersey’s worst criminals off the streets by denying them bail. This is a common-sense measure that would enhance public safety and reduce the risk of these criminals reoffending while awaiting trial. It is time that we act in the best interest of our residents and pass this legislation.”
"The governor still has to come to bat."
