Source: Christie raised $500K in New Brunswick last night

GOP insiders described a New Brunswick Hilton crammed with between 700-800 supporters of Gov. Chris Christie’s at last night’s kickoff fundraiser for the governor’s 2013 gubernatorial bid.

According to a Christie source, the governor raised about $500,000 for his re-election bid, putting his war-chest well over $2.6 million.

“It was a mob scene,” a Republican source told PolitickerNJ.com.

There were at least four rooms packed with the governor’s supporters.

The general admission crowd paid $300 per head to get in the door and into the big room.

There was a $1,000 room, and a $3,800 room. Those who were responsible for giving $50,000 or more had a special chamber with the governor, a source said.

"Since the print publication of this list, Christie, in his capacity as chairman of the Republican Governors Association, helped decisively turn the midterm elections in the Republicans' favor, which makes him a bit more influential than we initially gave him credit for, post-Bridgegate. So when your state governments do absolutely nothing for you for the next four years, be sure to thank him!"
