T. Missy Balmir of Trenton, a former aide to Jon Corzine and U.S. Rep. Rush Holt (D-12), has emerged as a key advisor to the Buono for Governor campaign.
At the Walk to Washington event, Balmir was frequently seen conferring with the gubernatorial candidate and the other members of Buono’s core circle of allies.
Part of Balmir’s role in the campaign will be urban outreach coordinator.
She has worked every Democratic statewide race since 2004, including U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez’s (D-NJ) successful 2012 effort.
A graduate of Trenton Central High School class of 1994, the political operative graduated from Rider University with a degree in political science, and holds a Masters Degree in Public Affairs and Politics from the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy and was a Graduate Fellow at the Eagleton Institute of Politics.
Balmir coordinated political activities throughout the 12th congressional District for Holt, and worked as a Senior Aide to Mayor Douglas Palmer where she managed the Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services and Complaints.
