Vainieri Huttle won’t get convention challenge

Palisades Park Deputy Mayor Jason Kim won’t take a run at the LD 37 incumbent Assembly people.

Kim had been mulling opposing Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-37) with the support of Palisades Park Democratic Party Municipal Chairman Mike Pollotta.

This week, in advance of tomorrow’s party organization deadline for candidates, Pollotta made the rounds of municipal chairs informing them that Kim was done.

Both Assemblyman Gordon Johnson (D-37) and Huttle would have withstood a Pollotta-fueled Kim attack, but sources say the target was Huttle, who came to the party as an opponent of the old guard.

Pollotta simply didn’t have the votes to beat her, a source told PolitickerNJ.com.

"It’s not a political environment that’s particularly warm for incumbents, but it looks like Booker has little to be worried about as the campaign season draws to a close."
