Donovan hospitalized with back pain

Bergen County Executive Kathleen A. Donovan was hospitalized on March 22 due to multiple stress fractures of her back, according to Jeanne Baratta, Donovan’s chief of staff.

“The County Executive has been undergoing treatment for chronic back pain for some time,” Baratta said. “Her condition worsened late last week and she was admitted to Hackensack University Medical Center for more extensive testing and treatment.”

Baratta said the County Executive’s treatment is expected to take up to several weeks and will require her to remain in a rehabilitation facility during that time.

“While continuing to fulfill her responsibilities as County Executive, Ms. Donovan has designated County Administrator Ed Trawinski to handle the day to day activities of her office during her absence from the County Administration building,” said the chief. Anyone with business pending with the county executive should contact County Administrator Ed Trawinski or me. We ask that everyone respect the County Executive’s privacy while she undergoes treatment for her back ailments. All of us in the County Executive’s office wish Ms. Donovan well.”
