Newark Mayor Cory Booker’s Senate fundraising schedule is packed with events in the coming weeks as the mayor prepares for a 2014 primary bid.
Booker is scheduled for events this month in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago and according to his website, will attend one tonight in New York City at the Park Avenue home of Barry and Bobbi Coller.
Tonight’s event will cost $1,000 to get through the door, while the event in Chicago at the home of Barbara Goodman Manilow runs $1,000 for the cocktail hour and $5,000 to break bread with the superstar Newark mayor.
He’ll end the month with two events in San Francisco and one in L.A. at the home of film producer Jerry Weintraub.
According to the invite to the $5,000 per head affair, Weintraub’s home will be packed with Hollywood royalty including Disney studio head Bob Iger; DreamWorks head Jeffrey Katzenberg and Sony CEO Michael Lynton.
Directors Steven Spielberg and his wife, Rob Reiner and his wife and JJ Abrams and his wife are scheduled to attend as is actor Bruce Willis.
In San Francisco Booker will dine at the home of former New Jerseyan John Scully, an investment banker and proponent of charter schools.
Next month, the mayor’s pals from Yale Law School will host a $5,200 per head dinner reception for Booker at the New York home of Jacob and Angela Buchdahl.
Booker opened his Senate fundraising account in January and though he claimed at the time it was only a technical move so he could begin exploring a run, he almost immediately began fundraising for the run.
In the primary, he could face U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, who has said repeatedly he is interested in the Senate. As of the end of 2012, Pallone had $3.4 million in his coffers.
