Christie Campaign: Silva ‘wholly unqualified’ to be governor

The Christie Campaign responded tonight to the news that Democrat Barbara Buono has chosen labor leader Milly Silva as her running mate.

“In the most important decision a gubernatorial candidate makes, Barbara Buono chose someone who is wholly unqualified to be governor, which is really the only requirement,” said Christie spokesman Kevin Roberts. “Instead of picking a qualified Democrat for Lt. Governor, in a blatantly political, Jon Corzine-era move, she has chosen an activist from a well-funded labor union.”

Silva serves as executive vice president of SEIU 1199.

"He’s obviously working very, very hard at it. I mean he’s traveling all over the country as chairman of the [Republican Governors Association] and I think at this point he has as good a chance or better than anybody else. His name is household word all across the country, and I think he would make a great president."
