The mayor of Evesham Township is among the list of people exploring a possible run for U.S. Rep. Jon Runyan’s seat.
Mayor Randy Brown, an early supporter of Runyan, says people have contacted him to gauge his interest and that a run for Congress is something he’s seriously considering.
“Absolutely,” he told PolitickerNJ about a CD3 run. “People contacted me within the past 24 hours trying to gauge my interest and … I’m honored to even be discussed in the circle of people to even be considered.”
Brown said he is mulling a run with his advisors and family.
“Yes, we’re exploring it. It is really happening very fast,” he said.
He has served as mayor since 2007 and is up for re-election in 2014.
“I was one of the first ones that ever supported Jon Runyan,” he said. “I congratulate him on the work that’s he’s done … and I can only wish him the best going forward.”
Earlier today, PolitickerNJ reported Edgewater Park attorney Aimee Belgard, a Democrat, is exploring a run.
Runyan announced earlier today he will not seek another term.
