Tuesday’s election will once again pit the divergent polling results of Rutgers-Eagleton against Monmouth University.
Today’s Rutgers Eagleton poll of the givernor’s race shows incumbent Republican Gov. Chris Christie with a huge lead over Democratic challenger Barbara Buono.
The 36-point margin anticipates the possibility of the governor producing coattails that could create down-ballot legislative wins for Republican candidates.
Monmouth’s poll also shows Christie soundly defeating Buono, but by a closer 20-point margin.
During the U.S. Senate special election, Monmouth’s final pre-election day poll showed the race a 10-point contest with Democrat Cory Booker beating Republican Steve Lonegan.
In its final poll, Rutgers showed Booker beating Lonegan by over 20 points.
Monmouth predicted the actual result.
