BREAKING: Baraka wins mayoral contest in Newark

Ras Baraka has prevailed in the Newark mayor’s race.

With 87% of districts reporting, Baraka has a 53.14% to 46.66% lead over his rival, former state assistant Attorney General Shavar Jeffries.

Baraka is holding an advantage of 2,500 votes with 21 districts left to be counted.

Those remaining districts are from Baraka’s South Ward strongholds.
