8TH DISTRICT DEMS STUNNED AT GOP ARROGANCE

Haines Team Admits they Prefer Style Over Substance

(Mt. Laurel, NJ) -- In a published report on Politicsnj.com, the 8th District Republican Assembly Team of Addiego and Rudder actually defended the decision by their Senate running mate, Phil Haines, to ignore the questions of residents at two independently hosted debates last week.

Citing their phobia of unidentified plants in the audience, the Republicans chose not to speak in an (unsuccessful) effort to not look foolish.  Astonishingly, Scott Rudder actually admitted this behavior to a respected media outlet.

The thing about these forums is who wins comes down to whoever has more plants in the audience,” said Rudder.

Fran Bodine and the Burlington County Reform Team called their opponent’s actions “a disgrace to democracy and a direct slap in the face to the hundreds of residents who took time out of their busy schedules to attend the forums.”

Bodine said the residents who attended the debates, and those who read about the coverage hoping to make an educated decision about which team to support deserve better.

“At a time when we should all be working to end voter apathy, they made a mockery of the campaign process,” said Bodine.  “Over two hundred residents came to hear our positions on the very issues affecting their lives and their pocket books.  They deserved more than what ultimately amounted to a card board cut out of someone who supposedly wants to serve them.”

Assembly candidate Tracy Riley was not surprised that her opponents spurned the voters of the 8th District.

“If they do not hold the Constitution of this country sacred, they certainly will not hold the voters in high regard either,” said Riley.  “While they continue to hide behind despicable, cowardly mail pieces, we will continue reaching out to voters and telling them our plan to reform government.”

Assembly candidate Chris Fifis doubts the authenticity of the reasoning behind their excuse to not speak to the audiences.

“First of all, Scott Rudder’s comment speaks volumes of the disdain in which the GOP holds the voters of Burlington County.  Both sides had a small handful of staff and supporters at these events, but the overwhelming majority were concerned residents and taxpayers.  Apparently, they don’t matter much to the Republicans quest to continue the politics of corruption inspired by their retiring Senator Martha Bark,” said Fifis.

“The Republicans record of raising taxes and increasing spending is more embarrassing than any mistake they could have made at the debate,” said Fifis. “Perhaps their real motivation to remain tight lipped is they know their records are indefensible.”
