Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollwage Endorses Albio Sires for Congress

(Elizabeth) – Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollwage today endorsed former Speaker Albio Sires for Congress, citing his commitment to urban revitalization, education and homeland security.

“Albio Sires and I are both mayors of cities that have experienced incredible growth and renewal over the past decade,� said Bollwage. “Whether it is sponsoring legislation that provides incentives to businesses that create jobs in the community, allowing good students to attend community college for free or increasing funding for homeland security, Albio Sires has been a leader for Elizabeth and the state. There is no one more qualified to be our next congressman and no one more prepared to improve the quality of life for Elizabeth’s families.�
As Speaker, Sires sponsored legislation that provides tax incentives for corporations that create jobs within the community, increased the minimum wage and rent assistance programs, spearheaded the STARS program that provides community and state college scholarships and increased funding for homeland security programs.

“I thank Mayor Bollwage for his endorsement and pledge to continue our partnership in improving the quality of life for Elizabeth’s residents. As a member of Congress, I will continue to fight so that our families have adequate economic and social protections, the Port of Elizabeth and Newark Airport are secured against terrorist attacks and guns are finally taken off our streets.�

Mayor Bollwage joins Freeholder Angel Estrada of Elizabeth, Senator Ray Lesniak of Elizabeth, Assemblymen Neil Cohen and Joe Cryan of the 20th LD, Assembly Members Linda Stender and Jerry Green of the 22nd LD and Union County Democratic Chairman Charlotte DeFillipo in endorsing Speaker Sires for Congress.
