ASSELTA: WHY NO SPECIAL SESSION ON ETHICS or IMMIGRATION REFORM?
The Senate Can hold Regular Committee Meetings but No Special Session
s?

Senator Nicholas Asselta, (R-1), issued the following statement regarding today’s Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee meeting on the foreclosure crisis in New Jersey.

“The rate of foreclosures in New Jersey has reached epidemic proportions all across New Jersey. This is an important issue that must be dealt with in a timely and efficient manner

“Equally as important though, is a failure to implement immigration reforms and the cloud of corruption that is darkening our state. I am baffled about why the Senate can hold regular committee hearings but Governor Corzine won’t call the Legislature into special session to implement real and comprehensive ethics reforms or immigration reforms.

“It is disturbing that the governor ignores the need for reform, either on ethics or immigration, issues that are critically important to the future safety and stability of this state. The legislature must meet in special session before the November election to pass meaningful ‘Pay-to-Play’ reform, a ban on wheeling, a real ban on dual office holding and to pass reforms to better manage the problems caused by the governments failure to secure our borders and to enforce immigration laws.
