WATSON COLEMAN: CORZINE BUDGET BRINGS REAL RELIEF, REAL FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY TO NJ RESIDENTS
(TRENTON) - Assembly Majority Leader Bonnie Watson Coleman today praised Governor Jon S. Corzine for presenting a fiscally responsible budget that provides record sums of property tax relief and a sorely needed increase in state aid for local public schools. Watson Coleman (D-Mercer) released the following statement:
"The Governor today has presented a good news budget that is truly financially sound.
"This budget contains record levels of property tax relief for New Jersey homeowners. It's a budget that contains no new tax increases for the first time in five years. It's a budget that provides the largest school aid increase since 2001.
"The Corzine administration has presented the Legislature with an excellent framework to continue to provide quality government services and ensure that residents receive the tax cuts they so desperately need.
"What's not to like about a budget that avoids tax increases and provides record levels of property tax relief?"
