Bodine camp hounds Haines over candidate’s mistake

Burlington County Clerk Phil Haines, state senate candidate in District 8, admitted today that he made a mistake when he said he received no income from the private law firm, Wells, Singer and Musulin, P.A., in 2006.

"I was going from memory," said Haines, who today corrected the record and said he received $1,233.90 from the law firm in 2006, not in 2005, as he stated yesterday in a telephone interview.

Referring to the dollar amount he listed on his financial disclosure form, Haines said, "It was based on money given to the law firm which I had generated in 2004."

The financial disclosure form for the state Division of Local Government Finances requires candidates to list any income over $2,000; while the state Elections Law Enforcement Commission requires candidates to list income over $1,000.

"I just followed the rules," Haines said.

His Democratic opponent, Assemblyman Francis Bodine, yesterday at a press conference went into damage control mode over his own professional record by criticizing Haines for "moonlighting" as an attorney while serving as the Burlington County clerk.

In response, Haines told reporters that during his first term as clerk he gradually phased out 100s of clients he had served over the course of an 18-year legal career. He continued drawing some income from practicing law - which is legal - he notes, as he served as clerk, up until 2006 - when he received $1,233.90.

The Democrats pounced on the error.

"He suddenly remembers facts," said Bodine campaign spokesman Peter Clerkin, reiterating Bodine’s point from Wednesday that Haines shouldn’t be drawing a six-figure salary as clerk while earning money from a private law practice and representing clients before planning and zoning boards in Burlington County.

"Does he want to release his client list to back this up?" said Clerkin. "Is he going to provide a list of the names of private developers he has represented? Why doesn’t he provide lists?"

Fran stuck on the 19th hole

Maybe if Fran bothered to show up to the Flooding Task Force he chairs, we could all take him much more seriously. I guess there weren't any courses in Lodi he was willing to drive to and play on either before, after or even during the meeting. Shameful really.

10/11/07 3:46 pm

I forgot

Phil also forgot that he didn't pay property taxes when he ran for re-election in 2004. Martha would be proud.

10/11/07 3:59 pm

Fran is hiding from the press

How come Haines is answering questions but Fran wont? Thats right, he is in hiding and only letting the Norcross staff talk for him.

10/11/07 4:05 pm

Again Honey

If you are going to continue to open cans of worms, expect it back - why didn't Fifis tell the truth to the papers when he said he didn't become owner of Ponzio's until 2000 when his bio on the BCDO site clearly stated he was part of ownership in 1998 when a lien was placed on the restaurant for failing to pay $17k in taxes? I see after I found the glaring foot in mouth problem, the site changed it to reflect what he said in the paper. What is he hiding?

10/11/07 4:26 pm

Honey is a Moron

Hey Honey you stupid twit, Haines does not pay property taxes because he LIVES WITH HIS DISABLED VET BROTHER WHO HE TAKES CARE OF!

This man served our Country and Haines is taking care of him - what have you done to help someone Honey you stupid piece of garbage??

Man the Bodine/Riley/fifis three Stooges ticket gets dumber and dumber!

The OC is 100% correct again but I am glad the dems and idiots like Honey keep digging their own holes!

More Cowbell Please !!

10/11/07 10:40 pm

Who are you?

I cannot imagine who you are? To get so angry, to get so emotional, its really hard to comprehend gopgal. I have seen similar postings on nj.com, on the Butlington County forum. Why do you feel the need to personally attack other posters, who are simply voicing their opinion, and viciously assault the democratic candidates. I hope someone can find out who you are and sue you for defamation. Given the television ads and massive grass roots efforts, the democrats are rising in the polls. ALL of the democrats, including Bodine. THis is obviously scaring the GOP as they felt sue Haines would wipe the floor with him. Now the terrorism bit has backfired and Riley has come out looking better. You guys keep messing this one up, and Haines, Addeigo and Rudder will be left at home in November. Now try some yoga tapes or something gopgal and get your anger under control!

10/12/07 8:04 am

gopgal08's gutter politics, Haine's "recollection"

Constitution: The poster you're referring to, gopgal08, is officially part of the BurlCo GOP in some shape or form, and I've been told by reliable sources that she is none other than Dawn Lacy. Gopgal08 has made derogatory statements where she's called me a Nazi, and she makes frequent personal attacks on those with whom she disagrees. Because many of her posts are so angry in tone and random in direction, it has been suggested that late night drinking is to blame.

Regarding Haines' "recollection" that he recently made money from his law firm in 2006, he needs to be more forthcoming with the voters about a) who he advised on real estate transactions and other matters and b) how this affected contracts and other matters in his capacity as county clerk.

On the basic level of who would better serve constituents, there is no disputing that the high-taxes, low-ethics team of Haines/Addiego/Rudder do not have the public's best interest in mind and instead merely represent a continuation of machine politics, nepotism and pay-to-play in BurlCo.

10/12/07 9:09 am

fight fire with fire I see

How interesting that comments countering gopgal's angry posts are actually just as angry and personal, only more voluminous in their flowery but poisonous prose. Martin I am sure thinks himself clever inferring she is some gutter trash drunk. I see the politics of personal distruction are fine as long as name calling or character assassination is neatly folded into the middle of diatribe of party talking points. I personally find gopgal's bluntness refreshing in comparison to the PBS monologues inscribed here day after day.

10/12/07 9:33 am

Martin

Pot - kettle called! Martin, while I am not condoning anyone being called a Nazi, I do recall numerous times that you have made derogatory comments about others on this board, including me and GOPGal. And while you continue to call on others to stop the name calling, you refuse to do it yourself. So until you hold yourself up to the same standard you expect from others, you have no right to complain when others do it to you. Now to equate $1,500 and a misstatement regarding 2004 and 2005 to Franny's bilking the taxpayers for $250k and his huge pension scam is ridiculous. Fran should not be throwing stones from his lofty perch in his glass house. Furthermore, I want to know when Mr. StemcellNARALProchoicewomen'srights supporter, Michael Martin, is going to call Franny out and ask him to resign his membership from the anti-women's club at Pine Valley? I won't hold out hope for it. But I do hope you have the courage to do so. It will open a spot for me to sign up and play there.

10/12/07 9:41 am

An unreliable source

Or perhaps just an outright lie by Martin. I suggest you be more careful if you are going to traffic in rumors. I hope Martin raises these same questions when Ed Kotch is up for re-election. He not only continues to practice law, but more often than not does so in lieu of showing up for work as County Solicitor. However, I am sure that Martin will be as flexible on this issue as he is with his stance on women's rights.

10/12/07 10:03 am

Again - glass houses

Martin likes to state that Haines' "recollection" is an issue. But who made this statement yesterday? "I don't have a great recollection of this program." That would be none other than Bodine's campaign hack Peter Clerkin on where he and Franny worked on legislative material even though Clerkin is a campaign staffer which is a clear violation of state ethics law. Maybe Franny was reading GOLF Monthly when they discussed that subject in the Assembly?

10/12/07 10:19 am

This need not even be an issue, if...

Haines had been public in the first place about his private practice real estate transactions. Clerkin is right in demanding that Haines reveal his client lists and the names of private developers in particular that have "benefited" from his council.

For the record, I don't think Haines is as blatantly corrupt as Martha Bark or Bob Stears, but he quietly has been taking in clients under the aegis of serving as county clerk and a private sector lawyer, and he approved, as freeholder, the insider deals with The Strategy Group that left taxpayers footing millions in back bills for non-jobs.

Either way, in terms of political victory and losses, this is a loss for Haines because he is not only on the defense, but he keeps having to defend himself.

Speaking of country clubs, I'm concerned about Addiego's role in taking funds for open space preservation and using them instead for the contruction of Indian Springs Country Club. Chris Fifis rightly critiques Addiego's shopping spree: “Addiego looted money from one fund to pay for her runaway spending."

10/12/07 10:35 am

Speaking of changing the subject

Why is it that Martin, no doubt a progressive forward thinking individual, is willing to overlook Bodine's membership to a discriminatory club?

10/12/07 10:55 am

It is wrong

I do agree that Bodine should be ashamed of himself for being a member of that club, however, I do find it funny that Addiego criticized him for it, while at the same time asking Bodine to let her husband go play with him sometime. She is a walking disaster! The only people who have any sense on this ticket are Riley and Rudder. That's who I'll be casting my vote for in November.

10/12/07 11:20 am

Laughable

So we are to take Franny's word that Dawn asked if her husband could play at Pine Valley? Come on. The guy has some problems with the truth. But Mr James has it correct. When Martin doesn't want to discuss an issue that makes his party look terrible, he bobs and weaves better than Ali. And Clerkin has no right to the information as to whom Haines' clients were or are. That is protected information under lawyer-client privilege. Even the ACLU would defend Haines on that one. But I am sure Clerkin cannot "recall" what the ACLU stands for.  And Fifis should not be discussing looting money. We are on to his Ponzio ownership and the lien against his restaurant for failing to pay 17k in taxes. Just a matter of time now before the truth comes out.

10/12/07 11:50 am

the oc's talking points

Though Paulsen may be giving you orders to mention "Camden County" as much as possible, and your weak attack on Fifis is transparent and pithy, the oc continues to play make believe about corruption in his own county, refusing to address issues concerning Lenape-gate, Indian Springs Country Club, the Bridge Commission, Bark, and other moments where taxpayers are bilked at the expense of the BurlCo GOP machine.

What a second: that sounds a lot like the campaign platform of Haines-Addiego-Rudder, too.

10/12/07 12:14 pm

Thank you OC and Aldo!~

What Martin refuses to accept and ignores is his Own ineptitude in accepting responsibility.

Martin cannot for one moment accept the fact that he goes after any GOP for ANYTHING right or wrong, then when ANY GOP decides to change to a DEM, martin starts protecting the VERY PERSON he has spent months and years trashing without explanation other than that person has A D NEXT TO THEIR NAME!

Martin cannot justify his actions because there is no logic behind it, and that is why he looks silly.

Now WHAT ABOUT POLITICS NJ PINNING HAINES AS WINNER OF WEEK AND BODINE AS LOSER!!!!!

More Cowbell Please !!

10/12/07 1:06 pm

Camden Co.

Although the connection of the 8th Democrats to the Camden county machine is a known part of the Republican attack, CC was not mentioned at all until your last post, Martin.

pithy, adj: brief, forceful, and meaningful in expression; full of vigor, substance, or meaning; terse; forcible

So I guess that means the oc's argument was a weak, forceful attack

10/12/07 2:28 pm

Give it to the judge

ASharper: Are you looking for some attention or something, and aren't you in North Jersey anyway? Perhaps you can grace this thread with more rambling posts on Ed Koch, alas.  And save your idle threats about being careful (who knows what your point was here) for someone who cares.

The more that Haines has to answer question about his law firm and whether it conflicted with his job as county clerk, the more that he is on the defensive and the more that this hurts him politically. Prospective voters can then question his connections to the Pauslen family business and make some assumptions about his time as freeholder when the Strategy Group kept receiving contracts -- even though they were ripping off taxpayers. Haines can provide private account statements to a judge and let him decide the merit of Bodine's ethics complaint and whether there was a conflict of interest.

10/12/07 2:59 pm

Marty

I will continue to worry about MY county. Why don't you slither back to your county and deal with the abundance of corruption there? And you can kiss my rear if you think I am anyone's minion. You have cornered the market as Perr's...uuuhhh...lackey. And the Fifis failure to pay taxes and have a lien placed on his restaurant will be an issue. It will show that he is deliberately hiding something in order to fool the public. We aren't stupid. The Haines clerk/lawyer issue is not gaining traction. But Clerkin needs to justify getting paid somehow - other than illegally working for the campaign inside a legislative office.

10/12/07 3:25 pm

Not so much a threat as much

Not so much a threat as much as advice: Your reliable source sucks, it'd be best not to listen to them. But then again the truth isn't something you seem to have trouble looking past. I apologize for my two sentence ramble about the Burlco solicitor. It wasn't nearly as informative as any of your daily diatribes in which you incorporate your same tired conspiracy theories. Most of the posters on this board probably wish you were pithy. This is the part where you abuse the english language once again and then proceed to call me a drunk.

10/12/07 3:40 pm

Sharper, the oc

Sharper: Forgive me if I don't take advice on truth from an pseudonymous poster who refuses even to acknowledge the widespread corruption in her/his own county. You have yet to make a single point besides critiquing my language and attacking me personally, so perhaps we can get to some exchange if you actually stick your neck out and defend Paulsen-Haines-Bark-Addiego-Rudder(father and son)-Stears. On the one point you did make, besides making veiled threats, then calling me a liar (without telling what I lied about): The issue with Koch would be different on some level than with Haines if Koch had been doing this for 7 years, as Clerk/Freeholder/Paulsen nepotist Haines has been doing with his private practice and work for the county.

the oc: Again, let the legal chips fall where they may. I'm glad that you are against having paid state staffers do political work; that means you will also criticize Diane Allen for using paid staffers to take notes on Rich Dennison. And my point above -- you often look for the polemical than any type of commonality -- is that a clerk-private attorney issue with Haines, as well as Haines' attacks on Bodine, are probably not gaining much traction in terms of changing voter's minds, though I would submit that when Haines (or any other candidate) is on the defensive, it isn't a good thing; it is probably us political junkies who pay attention to such accusations and political barbs, though the Haines clerkship issue was on the front page of the Courier Post yesterday.

10/12/07 3:57 pm

pay no attention to that man behind the curtain

Once again, Martin deflects legitimate criticism by demanding everyone else humbly acknowledge their county corruption while wholly ignoring his county's entrenched criminality. If he really cared for good government he would call out the hands that feed him and demand a thorough cleansing but he really only cares about increasing Democrat power. And need I say, power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely and in Martin's mind it absolutely rocks, too!

10/12/07 4:20 pm

No threats

I haven't made any threats, veiled or direct. Feel free to drive that falsehood home a third time, however. Do you honestly expect anyone to believe that holding a second job in the manner that Haines and Koch have only becomes an ethical issue when it has gone on for a specific amount of time? Admittedly, Haines has been in office much longer than Koch, but it seems you are arbitrarily assigning an amount of time after which this sort of behaviour becomes wrong. Regarding your comment on Allen's use of "paid" staffers, I believe its been addressed. The girl matching Dennison's description was an unpaid intern. This coupled with the fact that he was holding a press conference in front of her legislative office makes his complaint all the more ridiculous. What are her staffers supposed to do? Be held hostage inside while he grandstands about President Bush?

10/12/07 4:41 pm

MartinOne

If you ever met Dawn Lacy, you would be shocked at how wrong your source is about her. Negative, drunken tirades, random in direction, if you met her just once, you would never trust that source again.  If Dawn Lacy were as mean and nasty as you characterize, I can assure you Bill Layton would be spitting out his front teeth! Seriously, she is about as nasty as you are a man of few words.  In addition to a full time position committed to working for the betterment of troubled youth, she is a dedicated foster-mom, for crying out loud! I don't know who GOPGAL08 is, and I share in your frustration at the personal attacks and embittered rants sometimes (though sometimes she is so damn on point, just as you are sometimes)  you've simply got the wrong chick. In fact Martin, her refusal to engage in "gutter politics" is the very reason she is on that top 10 List you guys are floating around. Which, by the way, is more accurate than it is funny.

10/12/07 4:48 pm

Thanks Commonsense

Told you your source was crap, Martin.

10/12/07 5:14 pm

Wrong Again Martin

I am not Dawn Lacy as much as Marty wants to believe that. But what do you expect from someone who is SCARED to accept any reality that he does not find from his perr talking notes?? Man, I almost wish Marty would put his money where is mouth is to prove who I am; the embarrassment would be monumental at how wrong he is. His sources are probably as wacked as he is. Oh and tell your boyfriend Ronald Luvitz aka Dennison if he didnt TRESPASS onto the office of Senator Allen to do his stupid little " I am a jackass" press confernces, then her employees work days would not have to stop to find out what this loser is saying!

More Cowbell Please !!

10/12/07 6:28 pm

Martin is definitely wrong

I also happen to know Dawn Lacy and I can assure you she is not mean, vindictive or full of hatred.

She is probably one of the hardest working members of the GOP, always willing to volunteer her time for a variety of causes.

It would be nice to see both Democrats and certain members of the GOP treat her with the respect she deserves.

10/12/07 6:52 pm

A-freakin'-men

Really Martin, you had it wrong. And I have to hand it to you, some of your sources are pretty good----but not that one. Repforlife, I agree with you 100%. And I don't know about you, but those select few GOP'ers who are disrespectful toward Lacy bother me a hell of a lot more than any Dem attempt to slander her. Take heart though, those "select" few we are talking about are only going to be around temporarily.  After all, noone really "selected" THEM in the first place, now, did they?

10/12/07 11:53 pm

CommonSense

I agree 100%, the select few GOP we are referring to were never elected by anyone and have just come in and tried to take over in a weak power grab. Their end is near, sometime after November 6, when the real people in the GOP step up and send them packing.

And it is worse to see the select GOP attack Lacy because you don't expect that from your own party. The crap the Dem's throw at her is expected because they don't know her.

10/13/07 10:47 am

GOPGAL GOOD FOR DEMS

Keep up the good work gopgal. Your incessant senseless commentary is doing a wonderful job for the Dems. What better way to discredit the GOP ticket than to let you continue to spout your mindless opinions. The sophmoric drivel which spews from your idiotic mind never ceases to amaze people. I am quite surprized that Boss Paulsen has put the muzzle on you yet. Please continue what you are doing because you are helping to ensure a complete Democratic sweep.

10/13/07 11:17 am

Apologies to Lacy, if that's the case

I certainly wasn't intentionally trying to demean Dawn Lacy -- again, a source out of the blue emailed me about gopgal08 -- by comparing her to gopgal08, who routinely calls those who disagree with her "idiots," "stupid," or, as with me, a member of the "Hitler Youth Rally."

You shadow posters that are inside the BurlCo GOP seem to know who gopgal08 is, and I think we can confirm that she is associated with the Allen campaign in one way or another; this, of course, demeans the Allen campaign if this is the case.

10/13/07 3:59 pm

Now Marty

I only made that comment about Hitler when YOU made a decerning comments regarding Jews in regards to people wanting protection against terrorists and those defending them.

But NJ Wizard, I want to thank you for MY BIGGEST laugh of the Day! Thank you! Your little tantrum made it very clear I am dealing with amateurs.

Anyways Martin, I have NO affiliation with Allen's office or any other political job. I am a voter and resident who is well informed about their surroundings and educated. What should really scare you is there are many more out there like me who do not want to post, but read what is posted and are out there stumping for thier choices, and most of their choices are GOP. Not everyone who is not supporting the Dems work for the GOP. I am surprised as thoughtful as you are you cannot grasp this point.

But really Martin, you have steadfastly refused to answer our question - and I guess I will never get an answer, but all of the sudden after dogging Bodine for years now that he has a D by his name all of the sudden he is a good man?

Makes your argument very weak I am afraid and shows your lack of justification.

More Cowbell Please !!

10/13/07 7:21 pm

Gopgal has no affiliation with Allen

This person has no affiliation with Allen, because Diane Allen, unlike this crazy person strongly disagrees with the 8th district republicans trashing Ms. Riley for her husband's representation of Mr. Duka. Diane Allen, unlike Addiego and Haines (who are LAWYERS) understands the meaning of the Constitution and would not dare chastise a member of the bar for defending this country and its most basic concepts.

gopgal is a person who does not have a conscience and will say and do whatever to get Addiego elected. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Addeigo herself, although I too have heard rumors that it is Ms. Lacey. I do not know Ms. Lacey personally, so I cannot comment on her ethics. But whoever this person is, she is quite angry. And according to the recent polls, will be having a heart attack in November!

10/13/07 8:23 pm

FACT

GOPGAL is NOT Dawn Lacy!

and Martin you need to show some respect for Dawn. You DO NOT know her and you should not assume she is anything other than a good person. As mentioned in a previous post she is in fact a foster parent and has a really big heart. Some would say even too nice of a person for politics.

10/13/07 8:34 pm

Glad To See

All you dems in an uproar! lololol

By the way, you spin it all you want about Riley and her defense of Duka, point is until people started to give her heat about making money off an illegal terrorist did she capitulate and "stop" working with hubby until after the election.

But "constitution4all" since you know all the basic concepts of the constitution, tell me WHERE exactly does it say protection for illegals??? Do not remember seeing that in the Constitution. And please spare me the bleeding heart of loving this country, if Riley loved this country she would come clean with a homeland security plan or anti terrorist plan, but she cannot because it goes against the defense of Duka!

Go ahead, guess who I am; I love watching the conspiracy theories fly!

More Cowbell Please !!

10/13/07 10:34 pm

Constitution4all

Firstly how the hell do you know what Diane Allen thinks??? Because my friend, I am helping Diane with grassroots efforts and at NO TIME has she or any of her staff has been quoted to say what you are asserting! When did Senator Allen come out and say she "disagrees with the GOP bashing the 8th District Dems? When has she come out against the Haines/Addiego/Rudder ticket??? It is so easy to call you out Constitution4al, you aqre a joke! Oh, and by the way, Haines and Addiego do know the law, obvioulsy unlike yourself, and although principles are upheld, unlike Ms Riley, Haines and Addiego and Rudder have come out in support of keeping the residents here and now safe. Before you criticize someone else for negativity, look in the mirror and be sure to know what you are talking about!

10/13/07 10:50 pm

Lacy: too nice for politics?

The people running HQ now are just plain scum of the earth. They run dirty campaigns, even when they don't have to, and they play dirty within their own camp as well. Gopgal, the story about Riley?... enough already! The wise men at HQ have been hanging on to that story for months, beating the hell out of it because they think, in their infinite wisdom, that it reasonates with voters. It doesn't. And all it mananged to do is give Riley name recognition beyond Mount Laurel that she never had before these political geniuses began their brilliant attack. She probably quit her position because the polls came out and she realized that, because of all the name recognition she recieved courtesy of Paulsen's new crew, the seat was actually within reach! Good job, Bill Layton, you are the best freakin' campaign manager I have EVER seen in action. Obviously, being Paulsen's neighbor was your ONLY qualification for the position.

It is true: Lacy is too nice for the politics one finds at Republican HQ today. But I am telling you, if the not-so-nice people who are running things and running roughshod over Lacy today remain in their positions much longer,  the Republicans in Burlington County are finished for the indefinite future. Which is why Lacy should hold onto the Chair position and clean house after the election. A squeaky clean idealist would be a refreshing change and would energize the party in a much needed way. So you see, High Taxes, her "niceness" is not a political liability, it is an invaluable asset. The party needs a leader who doesn't know who Stears is, did not make millions from bond work, had nothing to do with Lenape-gate, never "found" Bark a job, and didn't have a Monica Lewinski-ish affair with a charge.

10/13/07 11:45 pm

Commonsense

I respectfully disagree with you on a few things. First of all, the whole Riley thing is a crapshoot. Yes, it has given her name recognition, but in reality, in Mt Laurel and around from what I hear, her own personal ethics have been leaking out about innappropriate behavior on her part years ago. Now, all of us have our own crosses to bear, but the more she has held herself up to be "pious" and a ethical person, sometimes the past can catch up with you. Now, this whole terrorist issue, unfortunately there is no way around it because it is that "elephant" in the room (no pun intended). I have spoken to many people who flat out will not support her because they know that she will profit from her family defending those people who mean to kill us. The munis near the bases are still not too happy with her choices and I am sure it will be reflected come Election day. Now, I cannot comment on the GOP HQ issues, or this lady Dawn Lacy or anything else about this issue because I am not involved with that side; but like politics itself, there is always going to be turmoil and differences in opinions. Niceness DOES play in the long run because although you want to command respect and attention, you have to be somewhat human IMHO and sometimes ruthlessness does not always prevail.

10/14/07 10:18 am

one more time

One more time Martin - if you don't want to be called names, don't do it yourself. I think many of the posters here - Sharper, pablo, Gopgal and more have gotten it 100% correct in that you make wild accusations and have no facts to back them up. I do not condone having a paid legislative staffer doing campaign work on the public dime. I do not have a problem with them doing it on their own time (clearly documented for legal purposes) and without force. Moreover, I do not have a problem with unpaid staffers crossing the line - the girl taking notes was an intern, not a staffer paid for with taxpayer funds. What I do have a problem with is paid campaign staffers dabbling in legislative work or conducting any campaign business on the property of a legislative office - a clear violation of ethics rules. And who cares who GOPgal is? Who knows I may know her outside this forum and not know that she is GOPgal. It really doesn't matter. But you have accused several people - including me - of being paid consultants or staffers of GOP offices, a local party, or campaign adviser. In all honesty, it is none of your business what I, or GOPgal, or anyone else for that matter, does for a living. Your personal attacks should cease on everyone if you want everyone to stop attacking you.  Sorry for the rambling post.  Was a long weekend.

10/15/07 9:20 am

apples and oranges

The oc: Between us, we both know which has made the most repugnant comments directed at the other person, and that was clearly you. Forgive me if I find your selective amnesia, from your own homophobic comments to other matters, to be rather stunning.

I've got no issue with you personally, of course, so I try to keep things above water, but your points, whether it is defending Tom DeLay, defending the war in Iraq, or giving a free pass to Martha Bark, deserve scrutiny and are, generally speaking, factually wrong.

And you inadvertently bring up an interesting point: does someone who works for a particular campaign in whatever capacity relinquish any relationship with said campaign if they post anonymously on a message board? I would think that, if a campaign manager or elected official posted on a message board, that their identity is relevant. I for one work for no one, receive talking points from no one, and have no other interest than to hold public officials accountable and help elect good Democrats. When you hide in the background for years, as you have done, or post on info that is rather secretive to everyone involved in a campaign except insiders, it does open you up for scrutiny. Allen may be an honorable person, for example, despite her unimpressive record; but those who speak for her, such as gopgal08, are hardly honorable in my estimation because of their gutter politics.

10/15/07 12:10 pm

There You Go Again Martin!

You just cannot help yourself can you Martin? Once again you accuse gopgal again for working for Allen, ie "but those who speak for her, such as gopgal08, are hardly honorable in my estimation because of their gutter politics" Again, how do you know who this person is and what they do for a living? You do not and you wild guesses once again only make you like like the jerk you are. I can turn the tables and say, since you are in bed with the Dems you surely must be in bed with Dennison because you keep extolling his virtues over Diane. That sounds equally as riduculous doesent it? It is very clear to me and I am sure many others who read this site that you just like to agitate; when you have your back against the wall, you throw out wild accusations because you cannot debate with facts. You still have not provided your justification for when Bodine became a Dem that all of his past dirty deeds according to you have all gone away? Sorry, but Dennison, Bodine, Riley and Fifis are NOT good democrats or IMHO good people and do not deserve our support.

Thank You

Thank you pablo, OC, Hightaxes, et al for your words. As usual Martin is so wrong it is scary.

I do believe that Martin as Pablo says is only an "agitator" and does not feel he needs to justify his actions.

But what makes Martin a joke is that he has really no idea who I am, where I live, what I do, or even if I am really a male or female. I may have made allusions to the affect of my gender one way or the other, but truth be told, you have no idea.

I am so glad Martin is dazzled by his own brand of poppycock, but most people who read this board know differently.

I want to see the best people elected regardless of what party they are, but unfortunately, the Martin's of the world only want Democrats regardless of their lies, lack of ethics and morals and anything else. Martin would rather see a ethically challenged Bodine, whom by the way Martin spent the better part of a year chastizing for his actions with the Bridge Commission and Bark become a State Senator over a good and decent man with a proven record of acomlishments in Phil Haines only because Bodine has a D next to his name.

That is what makes Martin's arguments so weak. I think Martin personally thinks that Jim McGreevy for exam;ple, was the BEST Governor we have had in spite of his lies, lack of ethics and morals etc because he is a democrat! I also bet Martin will blame the GOP for his demise as well too! You know, lets blame the GOP for outing a good honest ethical man like McGreevy!

More Cowbell Please !!

this just in!

The 8th Dem signs were special ordered to be the color of the "old school gop camapigns". This request was made by Franny Boy to trick the Seniors. He wants them to think of him with the likes of Bill Haines and Larry Chad then what does old Marty Boy got to say about that?

Fran is such a Country Club Republican its not funny. One mans trash is another mans treasure i guess.

Haines campaign update

Losing 2-1 in campaign spending, continually answering questions about tax liens on one's Assembly candidate, having an ethics complaint filed against one's state senate candidate, and having this same state senate campaign candidate have to backtrack on some previous comments on income tax returns is hardly a "winning" campaign, High Taxes. Forgive me if I want to talk about other issues than your hard-hitting post on (drum roll, please) color design.

A Winning Campaign

One needn't look any further than the press releases to the right to see the tactics of a truly great campaign. Surely these "highly anticipated" top ten lists (as they are toted by none other than the people who wrote them) are a sign of the maturity of this organization. Notice at the bottom of each that it does not have an individual contact, due to the fact that they are embarassingly unfunny. By comparison, Martin seems like an elder statesmen. After all, he is willing to attach his name to every bit of garbage he puts in to print.

Sniff sniff

Where do I begin? Do I start off like a 5th grader and retort by saying that you began the whole nonsense of calling people names when you claimed I was obese, balding and unemployed? I merely stated the fact that your profile claimed you were an "educator" which to me, and any other rational human being, indicates that you are a teacher. I then went on to quote Woody Allen by stating that those "who can't do, teach." If that is a personal jab at you, get some thicker skin. I never claimed you were a homosexual. I merely questioned how you garnered some of your information and whether it was from pillow talk with a county party boss (and not Glenn Paulsen so I think everyone can figure it out). I never stated that you were having sexual relations with any man - or woman for that matter. Additionally, because of your fascination with my physical attributes, I became alarmed thinking you may have some type of crush on me. I have never in all my years of politics experienced as much intrigue over what I look like than I have with you. Kind of flattered but to quote Damon Wayans- "homie don't play that." Could be worse - I could have quoted something from that awful one hit wonder band, Timbuk 3. The fact of the matter is, I could care less about your sexual orientation. Or your profession - although if you are still a student, kudos to you, but get a job and start paying taxes like the rest of us. Once you do, I am sure even you will want to keep a little more money in your pocket rather than giving it to the government and have them throw it either non-existent problems or programs that don't work. As for my facts, at least I do not make up mine. I have never given Martha Bark "a free pass." But I will ask - what has she been convicted of? The answer is nothing. Over two years of investigations have brought a grand total of ZERO charges. As for Tom DeLay, I am no fan - I have said that numerous times. However, he has not been convicted of a thing - not even jaywalking. And again, we are over two years and counting. Charges have been dropped or thrown out due to insufficient evidence or the fact that the prosecutor attempted to retroactively apply the law to something that was legal at the time DeLay was raising money. But nooooo - there was no political motive involved. Ronnie Earle would never do that, right? Wrong. He has a history of going after political rivals - and failing miserably. And you are damn straight I am going to defend the War on Terrorism. I have lost someone in my family in this conflict and I will be damned if I am going to allow his life to be lost for nothing like you and the other left winged liberals would want us to do. Now once again you will probably tell me that you don't care that I lost a family member in Iraq - as you have done in the past. And you will probably once again tell me that I should not mix in my personal life into this forum to back up my argument - as you have done in the past. So please forgive me for not giving a rat's butt if you do or don't have an "issue" with me personally. I could care less. But I do care about hypocrisy and blatant falsehoods. When I see them, I will correct them whether you like it or not. PS - As for candidates or campaign aides on this board, can you name one for sure? I doubt it. And as for your talking points, you mimic the press releases from the BCDO and blue jersey. So you are either not being forthright with us, or you are a parrot. Want a cracker?

speaking of garbage that needs to be taken out

Addiego: helped push county contracts to "insider" entities like Capehart, helped hush up the BurlCo Bridge Commission scandal, helped push higher taxes for BurlCo citizens, active in the BurlCo slush fund to nowhere, tax lien (proven, unlike with Fifis) on property, didn't pay fee for practicing law, helped push insider contracts while at the Evesham MUA

Rudder: Higher taxes (50%) while mayor, father helped Martha Bark get her no show job, questionable contracts to companies as Medford mayor

Haines: approved multiple contracts to insider organizations, delves out contracts to companies he's paid to represent as a lawyer (and sees no conflict), currently has an ethics complaint filed against him

Information Request

Aside from the ethics complaint and lawyer's fees which are self explanatory, please substantiate these claims with hard evidence. Refrain from using Democratic press releases in doing so. If you are able to do this you will turn the Burlington County political scene upside down with the huge story that you broke all by yourself. Then, get Norcross to be your reference on the resume you submit to the Philadelphia Inquirer as their new political reporter. You'll be like Woodward and Bernstein but just one person! You can submit an essay reconciling your progressive beliefs with the fact that you support a man who belongs to one of the last openly discriminatory clubs in America as a writing sample.
