Senator Anthony R. Bucco (R-Morris) responded to Democrat attacks launched against Senate Minority Leader Leonard Lance, who offered a thoughtful critique of the State’s fiscal condition at today’s Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee hearing.
“There is only one political party that has presided over $12 billion in tax increases over the last four years, and increased government spending by 48% over the same time period. There is only one political party that has doubled the State’s bonded indebtedness over the last four years. There is only one political party that has postured and passed the buck, while New Jersey taxpayers were saddled with the highest property taxes in the nation.            “There is only one party that was incapable of passing a balanced budget and instead gave the people of this State an historic shutdown of government services. There is only one political party that still cannot come to grips with the disastrous fiscal and legal implications of their $1.27 billion in ‘Christmas Tree pork-barrel spending over five years.            “Attacking Minority Leader Lance for telling the truth about this budget is reprehensible, but sadly representative of the last five years of Democrat fiscal irresponsibility.
