Conners and Conaway Vote Against Much Needed Ethics Reform
Donnelly Urges Assemblymen to Disclose What They Are Trying To Hide From Federal AuthoritiesCINNAMINSONCinnaminson Committeeman Joseph Donnelly released the following statement today regarding Assemblymen Herb Conaway and Jack Conners’ vote against a Republican sponsored resolution that would have compelled the release of subpoenaed documents requested by the US Attorney from the Office of Legislative Services. These documents as part of a wide ranging investigation into budget related pork that may have been allocated to organizations that either employ legislators themselves or their family members.
“I am outraged that Assemblymen Conaway and Conners would be against
releasing documents that have been subpoenaed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
“Are they trying to cover up the fact that over the last five years Democrat legislators in Trenton have doled out hundreds of millions of dollars to their employers and those of their family while hard working families here in Burlington County have seen their property tax bills skyrocket by 35 percent? It’s time that our state representatives stop shilling for the corrupt Camden County Democrat machine and start demanding increased aid to our municipalities.
“In Burlington County, our Republican officials have had to grapple with aid cuts from Trenton for years, while continuing to give taxpayers the services that they need. It’s time for Herb Conaway and Jack Conners to demand answers as to who requested money from the budget for their employers and if any of that money was given directly to them in any bonus or raises they may have received. They have stood by too long while there fellow Democrats have reaped riches off the backs of our hard working taxpayers.
The Resolution opposed by Assemblymen Conaway and Conners also called for the consideration of a number of bi-partisan supported ethics reforms that would: ban dual office holding; stop pension boosting and tacking by public officials; suspend indicted public officials without pay; required jail time for convicted public officials and the forfeiture of their pension.
