The screening committee for the Burlington County Republican Organization interviewed 3rd district Congressional candidates Chris Myers and Jack Kelly today at party headquarters in Mount Holly.
The committee also heard from U.S. Senate candidates Anne Estabrook, state Sen. Joseph Pennacchio, and Murray Sabrin; six county clerk candidates; and eight freeholder candidates.
Third district Congressional candidate former Tabernacle Committeeman Justin Murphy did not participate in the screening process, arguing that he would instead position himself in the GOP primary race as an independent Republican.
Ocean County Freeholder Kelly has the endorsement of the Ocean County Republican Party, and his participation in today’s Burlington County screening process was a self-admitted courtesy call to the Burlington GOP.
Medford Mayor Myers is expected to receive the Burlington GOP’s endorsement on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Riverton Country Club after the screening committee submits its recommendations to the municipal chairs and the party’s executive committee.
