Carney's Point mayor guilty of corruption
By Matt Friedman, PolitickerNJ.com ReporterThe Salem Sunbeam reports that former Carneys Point Mayor John “Mack” Lake was found guilty today of corruption.
In a non-jury trial, Salem County Superior Court Judge William Forester found Lake guilty of two counts of bribery and one count of official misconduct.
Lake, a Republican, tried to bribe Anthony Rullo, his Democratic opponent in last year’s mayoral race, with an offer of two township jobs worth $20,000.
Lake faces five to ten years in and could be fined as much as $150,000.
