Cavicchia declared himself a Republican this year

Mulling a possible GOP primary challenge to Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen in district 11 Peter Cavicchia II acknowledged today that he gave $1,000 to John Kerry’s campaign in 2004, but says he’s contributed more heavily to the Republican National Committee.

The retired U.S. Secret Service agent says he also ended up voting a second time for George W. Bush in 2004, not Kerry. 

"I never declared myself in either party until this past primary election, when I became a Republican," said Cavicchia, whose grandfather, U.S. Rep. Peter Cavicchia, represented the 11th District as a Republican in the 1930s when the district included Newark.

Federal Election Commission reports available online do not reflect contributions by Cavicchia to the RNC. 

The prospective candidate is a Newark native, born in the Down Neck section and raised in the North Ward, where he was a history student of Steve Adubato’s at Broadway Junior High School.

U.S. Rep. Peter Rodino and U.S. Rep. Joseph Minish gave eulogies on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives when Rep. Cavicchia died on Sept. 11, 1967. Cavicchia’s son, Peter Cavicchia III, also a former U.S. Secret Service agent, responded as an EMT to the attacks on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, and received the agency’s Medal of Honor.

We keep getting the Democrats to infiltrate our party to give the NJEA, CWA (government workers union), Sierra Club, the Brady Bunch, representation from both sides. Send him back to the Democrat Party to run. Oh, I forgot, Democrats cannot get elected in that district, that's why he switched parties.

Liberals know their fossil occupying the seat will not be around too much longer so they need another stooge in place before a conservative moves in.
