If Michael Chertoff becomes George W. Bush’s choice for U.S. Attorney General, he would become the first New Jerseyan to serve as Attorney General since John W. Griggs held the post under William McKinley.
Griggs served in the State Assembly in 1876 and 1877, and in the State Senate from 1883 to 1888. He was Senate President in 1887. He was elected Governor in 1895, and resigned in 1898 to join McKinley’s cabinet.
Griggs is the only New Jerseyan to serve as U.S. Attorney General.

Too bad Bush doesn't have any street fight in him.
If Bush wants to settle down the miscreants in congress that are trying to undermine his administration, he would take the opportunity to stick it to them. He should appoint Bob Barr as Attorney General. Every time they go after one of the administration, he should appoint their worst nightmare.
If the Democrats won't support Barr, he should appoint Ann Coulter.

Joe, are you serious? Bob Barr, who cooperated with the ACLU to oppose the Patriot Act? Bob Barr who offically left the GOP and joined the Libertarian Party?

Chack your facts Wally
Nicholas D. Katzenbach was named as the 65th US Attorney General by Lyndon Johnson in 1965. Mr. Katzenbach was admitted to the NJ Bar in 1950. Way to check the facts!!
My Facts
Nicholas DeB. Katzenbach was an Illinois resident when he joined the Kennedy Administration after the 1960 election. He had been teaching law at the University of Chicago and at Yale University. While he comes from a New Jersey family, he was born in Pennsylvania and didn't begin living in New Jersey until after the Johnson Administration ended. Admission to the New Jersey Bar doesn't make you a New Jerseyan.

Great response! I agree...
