Nicholas Chiaravalloti today dispelled a rumor that he might be returning to Sen. Robert Menendez’s inner circle to again run the Democratic senator’s state office.
The Bayonne attorney, who resigned as Menendez’s right hand to mount a state Assembly campaign, said, "If he calls me, I would like to help him as a volunteer, but my focus now is on building my law practice and doing some consulting."
Chiaravalloti earlier this month lost his Assembly race to Bayonne Councilman Anthony Chiappone and former Jersey City Mayor L. Harvey Smith.
"That was never a plan," Chiarvalloti said to speculation that if he lost he would go back to the position that Menendez has not yet filled.
