Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani continue to hold substantial leads in the February 5 New Jersey presidential primaries, with a general election matchup between the two in a statistical dead heat, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released this morning.
Clinton leads Barack Obama 51%-17%, with John Edwards at 7%. Giuliani has a 38%-12% lead over John McCain, with Mike Huckabee at 8%, Mitt Romney at 7%, and Fred Thompson at 4%.
In a general election matchup, Clinton leads Giuliani 45%-44%.
“New Jersey voters know the girl and boy next door, Sen. Hillary Clinton and Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, and apparently are sticking with them,” said Clay F. Richards, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. “There’s no Oprah bump in Sen. Barack Obama’s numbers and the Huckabee factor is minor in the Republican race, where Sen. John McCain is the second place contender.”
Richards says that “if Clinton and Giuliani are the nominees, the outlook right now is for a real horse race in normally Democratic New Jersey.”

Primary
New Jersey moved it's Primary to February because it wanted to have a say in the process.
However, the State Parties did nothing to help the candidates get the 1,000 signatures to be on the ballot? So what's the point?

I'm looking forward to seeing the numbers
post Iowa and NH. I'd guess a big percentage of Clinton's support would switch with good Obama and/or Edwards showings.
